Is it better to lift weights/HIIT/sprint on an empty stomach first thing in the morning?

Lifting heavy weights and sprinting both raise metabolism GREATLY, so I thought it would be good to do it first in the morning.

Should I eat a small meal before, or just take a protein shake? I want to maximize my results, but I also don't want to use up muscle.


Answers:

That works best for me and is what a trainer recommended to me. You do need a little protein before so that you have the enzymes necesary to burn fat rather than muscle.
