Question about Hoodia.?!

Question:

Question about Hoodia.?

I know you can't mix these type of pills with alcohol ( and I never would), but if you take a pill in the am, and again around lunch time, are you in any danger if later that night you have a few beers or anything like that?

Answers:

Hoodia diet pills are very different from typical diet pills. Unlike most diet pills, hoodia diet pills that contain ONLY hoodia are not stimulants. They are just simple appetite suppressants. Having said that, there are many hoodia supplements on the market that are stimulants because they contain stimulants such as caffeine. However, hoodia itself is not a stimulant and can be taken with any food or beverage.

Hoodia gordonii contains a molecule called P57. This molecule tricks the brain into thinking it is full. The idea behind diet pills that contain hoodia is that if you feel full, you'll eat less. Thus, you'll lose weight.

Given how hoodia works, it has been proven to be very safe with virtually no side effects. Again, being a natural appetite suppressant, hoodia can be taken with any food or beverage. There is only one possible concern (albeit a very small one)...

There are some experts that say hoodia *may* be bad for the liver. If you're interested, you can read more about this here:

However, I spoke with a doctor who has 2+ years of clinical experience with hoodia and he says that as long as you have a normal functioning liver, it's highly unlikely that hoodia has any ill effect on the liver. He said that if you have a failing liver or any kind of liver condition, then you may want to proceed with caution when using hoodia. For the average person he says hoodia will not cause liver damage.

I personally don't think there is much merit behind the hoodia/liver connection, but then again I'm not a doctor. Literally millions of people have been taking hoodia for years now and there has yet to be any reports of anyone experiencing adverse side effects as it pertains to the liver.

The only reason I bring this debate up is that alcohol is very taxing on the liver. If you're a heavy drinker (and that doesn't sound like that's the case here), you may not want to take hoodia just in case there is some merit behind the hoodia/liver connection.

Hope this helps.
