I personally use Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard Whey. This stuff does help when used in conjunction with proper exercise protocol. You will want to use it as a supplement to an already solid diet.
By supplementing with whey protein over the last 2 years I have put on over 30 lbs of muscle, drug free. I also compete drug free in powerlifting and would not even consider not taking a protein shake to hit my intake goals.
Bottom line, the stuff works when used correctly, alone it will not make you gain muscle, maybe fat and water weight, but thats about it. think of it as just another tool in the tool box.
