Anorexia help?!

Question: Anorexia help!?
I'm a fifteen-year-old freshman!. I was diagnosed with it in January of '08 but it's been haunting me for a long time!. I am seeing a nutritionist and therapist, so i have gotten help, but I'm just looking for some advice from anyone who has overcome this disorder!. It's been the most difficult thing in my life and I just can't talk to my friends about it because they don't understand; all they ever tell me is "you're not fat," or "I wish i looked like you," when, in actuality, I wish I were like them!.

I don't know how much I weigh because my nutritionist doesn't allow me to see the scale but my ideal weight, in order to get my period back, is 110!. She says I'm close, but my weight varies from week to week because my metabolism revved up as soon as i started eating more!.

Also, if you have any tips on gaining weight back the healthy way it would be helpful for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You've got nutritionist, so you're getting educated about nutrition, though I don't see the point of infantilizing you by trying to strip you of knowledge!. The last thing I'd do is get into a control tug-o-war with someone with eating issues, which, as your therapist has probably told you are more about control than anything else!.

You've got therapist, so we can assume you're making progress on that level!.

Regarding weight gain the healthy way - you don't want to tax your physiology excessively until after your cycle returns!. That's a good barometer that you've got enough resources to build!. Until then, you're literally still recovering from starvation!.

Once you do get back on cycle, then find a good trainer and do some resistance training, which will stimulate growth of healthy tissue - and appetite!. It'll also give you some other tools for various experiences of 'control' and release of endorphines which will counteract stressors in your life!.

You're on the right track!. Just be patient with yourself as you progress!. Your positive actions, each one of them, insure your success!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never suffered from anorexia, but i did suffer from bulimia with anorexic features!. If you want to gain the weight back you need to drink lots of ensure or boost with your food and try to eat the highest calorie foods you can, i know its hard but you'll get through this!. Maybe you should look at a treatment center, i went to the Klarman center at Mclean hospital, and i also heard good things about Walden!. Really you should check into it!. and keep this in mind, life with an eating disorder is not really living!.

good luck girlWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm really glad to hear you are seeking help!. As far as gaining weight I would talk to your nutritionist, he/she would have a better idea of what would be the healthiest way for you to gain!. I know its difficult not to think about it all the time, just try to keep yourself occupied with other things like a hobby!. If you don't like hearing those comments from your friends talk to them and let them know how you feel!. Let them know it bothers you when they make those comments! Good Luck and truly proud of you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was an anorexic when I was a freshmen in High School and it was the hardest thing for me because my friends would watch me at lunch and see if I ate!. They would buy me food and force me to eat it!. What I did, was I ate high calorie food bars, but I wouldn't do anything without consulting your nutrionist!. Acually, after overcoming this, I want to become a nutrionist!. Good Luck and I hope you overcome this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

One of my best friends was also diagnosed with anorexia!.
All that really has to be done, is to keep listening to the nutritionist, and to avoid skipping meals!. Being a freshman in high school really can get to you, and does cause a lot of stress; so just relax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you dont have to eat a lot !.
if the quality of the food is really junky and fatty (like mcdonalds) you gain a lot more then what you would normally gain from eating a lot of something that is healthy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Avoids nuts (almonds etc!.) cause they fill you up quickly and you really only eat about 5!.
Eat meat like steak, beef jerkey, fried chicken etc!.
***you don't want to go over board with the "bad stuff" so balance out the meal with veggies and stuff!.***

I know it is hard!. But try at least you are getting help and you want to be heathly!. You mostly likely are beautiful if your friends say they want to look like you!. So don't worry!. Feeling full is a natural thing, but don't over eat!. Consider how much you are feeding yourself!.

Getting over anorexia is one of the most difficult things I have ever done!. I ate many small meals a day, because I physically could not eat more than a couple bites at one time!. But, this did get me on track!. I could look at the scales, and when I got one pound higher I went and treated myself to a new shirt or something!. Well, I guess my mom treated me, considering it was her credit card!. But nevertheless, it was horribly difficult to overcome, but I did it and I know you will too!. You are very lucky you have the help you do, and I wish you the best of luck!. This is not something that just happens, gaining weight, like it does for everyone else; people like us really have to work at it, and you should be so grateful you have support at home!. I hope you reach your goal and more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

thats good you are looking and trying to get help :)

so!.!.!.!.eat healthy!.
just eat healthy!.
and dont do exercise until you are at your normal weight!.

you have to be confident about how your body looks!.
110 is really skinny for a 15 year old, so people wont say your fat or anything!.
try to reach 130-135ish!. and then youll be at your normal weight!. and when your there, eat healthy and be confidnet :]
make sure you eat healthy the 3 times a day meals!. and possibly a snack between breakfast and lunch and luch and dinner!.

other tips like these might help:
!. Stick to your treatment!. Whatever happens, always be present at your therapy sessions and religiously adhere to your meal plans even though it may be very difficult for you!. You may also want to ask your doctor or nutritionist to prescribe vitamin supplements to ensure that your body is getting the right amount of nutrients for proper functioning!.
!. Realize that your family cares for you!. No matter what you think or feel, your family cares for you tremendously so please do not try to isolate yourself!. Let your family help you in your battle against the disease!.
!. Stay away from the mirror and the weighing scale!. You might be tempted as a force of habit to check yourself in the mirror and consult the weighing scale frequently during the day!. Don't!. Resist this urge for your own sake!. These may just push you to revert to your unhealthy eating habits!.
