Lots of people think of YOGA as just STRETCHING...
Answers:
Yes - I have lost weight by doing power yoga and vinyassa yoga. Beginner level hatha yoga will help you tone, but won't burn as much fat as the more intense/aerobic varieties of yoga. I'd say spend some time learning the poses and gaining flexibility (a few months) and then start with the power yoga.
