Can you tell me if this is a good amount to eat at a party without overeating?!

Question:

Can you tell me if this is a good amount to eat at a party without overeating?

I ALWAYS end up overeating at a party. I'm a dancer, and I'm trying to eat waaay healthier so that I'll be better! My invitation said that pizza, pop, chips, and cake would be served. If I had one slice of pizza, water, and a small piece of cake, is that good enough without overeating? I'll also be working out tonight doing cardio.

I would skip the cake, but that would seem a little rude of me.
Well, maybe I will actually not have any cake. That's exactly the kind of food I'm trying to get rid of and not crave anymore.

Answers:

It's an excellent amount. And good for you, trying to eat healthier.

And you can even have a second slice of pizza if you are still hungry. You defiinitely shouldn't starve yourself, and you can always just eat extra healthy the next day to "make it up".

But be a little strict with yourself-- only one (small) slice of cake, as you said. And no pop-- it's a waste of calories; you are right to choose water instead, which will hydrate you better! It's easy to go crazy with chips and not even realize it, so better to avoid them altogether.

If there's fruit or salad (even though not mentioned in the invitation) help yourself. Just stay away from any creamy salad dressing.

And remember, it's okay to treat yourself once in a while. Pizza and cake is fine to eat-- just not every day. After the party, try to eat extra-healthy for the next few days. Then you might want to treat yourself again, as encouragement.

Whatever you do, don't undereat! If you are still hungry, go for the second slice of pizza, rather than a handful of chips or another slice of cake. It might seem as though the pizza would be less healthy than a few chips, but the pizza will fill you up, whereas you'd need to eat a LOT of chips to feel satisfied.
