What is a forced repitition?!

Question:

What is a forced repitition?

Answers:

Here is how it works.
First of all, if you want to build BIG muscles, you should be lifting in the 6-10 rep range. Meaning that you can ONLY do ten reps of a certain lift, and no more (if you CAN do more, then add weight) So, lets say that you are doing a bicep curl for example and you are really loading on the weight, and can only do SIX good (by that I mean "form") repetitions. So, you have a friend stand by and help a little with that seventh one. Yah, yah, maybe you couldn't do 40 pounds SEVEN times, but you sure CAN do it six times and then the LAST one with a 5 (or ten, depending on how much he helps) pound boost.
That LAST one (number seven) is called a forced rep.
Don't do them every workout. Muscles grow the best when you are always fooling them. Sometimes lift heavy with little reps, sometimes lighter for lots of reps. Sometimes more sets, sometimes less. Rest after a set, sometimes dont rest.
Good Luck!
