It can help maybe as a warm up excercise, but the real way to lose weight is the answer you don't want to hear!: Cardio and good eating! Like jogging a few times a day is one of the best ways to lose weight cuz ur burning belly fat! Also if you want try eating better, which is the hard part lol If you want to lose weight you will need to do more than that excercise, do any series of excercieses that will keep your heart beating faster, and you will see results.
