Exercise to enlarge gastrocnemius without enlarging soleus?!
Question: Exercise to enlarge gastrocnemius without enlarging soleus!?
I am a 20 year old female, I've practiced karate for six years and also did resistence exercises last year!. As a result I developed muscle!. That is fine since I like being fit, but for some reason, my soleus muscles became really huge, giving me a thick ankle look!. (especially when looked from behind)
I quit all those exercises for a year I am only doing light exercises; and for the last month I've had very little nutrition, as a result I lost weight- fat and almost half my muscles!. Now my ankles look slim because my soleus muscles also got far smaller, but this time my calves lost their "diamond shape"!. I want to redevelope my upper calves without enlarging my soleus again!.
Any ideas!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
When you are working out your calves, you will primarily hit the Gastrocnemius when your legs are straight (standing calf raises, or donkey calf raises)!. You will primarily hit the Soleus when you are doing exercises with your knees bent (legs 90 degrees, as in a seated calf raise)!.
If you only want to hit the Gastrocnemius and not the Soleus, just stick to straight-legged calf exercises!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
