I'm a bit of a home body, and I'm afraid I've become a coach potato...?!

Question:

I'm a bit of a home body, and I'm afraid I've become a coach potato...?

It makes me sad, really. I don't really want to go out with my friends like I normally do, but then again, I am knda waiting to get my license so I can come and go as I please. That's not really the point, though.

I'm still young, heck, I'm in my prime(18) but I feel extremely sluggish all the time. I used to run with my younger sister alot, but I don't really feel like it anymore.

Any suggestions to get me out of this rut?

Answers:

I'm sorry to hear of your current "blah" state.

It might just be a phase you are going through, or it could be a sign of something more serious like depression.

In any case, please address the problem now. Your current state left untreated could become a way of life of you and that would be sad. Being a homebody could become your "comfort zone," and the longer you stay this way the harder it will be to get out of it.

See a doctor and explain your state of mind. If they diagnose depression, there may be medications that can help you.

In the meantime, reach out to friends and family and try to get out and be active. If you don't have friends or family, join a club, take a class that interests you, or try volunteering. Helping others less fortunate than you is a great service and makes you appreciate what you have.

Lethargy breeds lethargy and it is a very difficult cycle to break.

Good luck to you, I hope you are in better spirits soon.
