Does eating too little cause weight gain?!

Question: Does eating too little cause weight gain!?
Ok, i dont understand!. All my girlfriends dont really watch what they eat and are so skinny!. I used to be like that, until I started dieting and now for some reason I find I cannot find a balance and be a smaller size again! Is it true that eating too little can actually cause weight gain, or a plateau!?
If so, then how are anorexic people so skinny!? they barely eat at all!?!
Im so frustrated!.!.!.!.it just seems no matter what I do I will always be bigger!.!.!.!. did i ruin my once fast metabolism!?!? I am only 22 years old :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you diet to excess (have a deficit of over 500 cals in your diet) your body thinks you are in a time of famine and so slows down your metabolism!. This slowing of the metabolism happens fairly quickly after starting the diet (a couple of weeks), however lasts with you for ages (up 6 months)!. There are also psychological switches that get turned on when you substantially reduce your calorific intake!. After WW2 when the people in concentration camps where given a sufficient diet, it was noted that they overate on average by approx 700 cal every day for a period of 6 months, until their appetite returned to normal!. Their calorie intake was approx 1700 cal/day which is more than what a lot of modern diets allow!!!
If you eat a good, varied diet with little or no processed food, and stop eating when you are full (this sounds far easier than what you may think - you feel you are full at the solar plexus, which is just beneath the base of the sternum) your body will adapt itself to what your correct weight should be!. This is good if you are severely overweight, but if you want to be skinny then think again, because it will always be impossible to maintain!Www@Answer-Health@Com

first, acdcchick needs to know that its spell anorexic!. But she is right it will mess up your metabolism!. more importantly it can cause serious changes in your hormone levels, including elevated cortisol, by putting stress on your system (after all, you need food for your body to work!) Which will cause you to lose muscle and gain fat!. Just exercise and eat healthy (which might take some research) make sure you get enough protein!. And it'll be fine!. Most important though is to stay active and stay away from stress!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your metabolism slows down, you start burning less energy and you don't burn the things you DO eat, anorectics barely eat at all, so the body uses the fats stored in the body as a last resort!. When an anorectic would start eating a whole meal, that person would gain weight really fast!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
