Answers:
BMR is how many calories you burn a day doing nothing (breathing, digestion, etc)!. Calories also get burned through your daily activity obviously!. To lose weight you need to create a caloric deficit (burn more than you eat)!. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat!. That means to lose a pound a week you need to have a DAILY caloric deficit of 500 calories (500 calories x 7 days=3500 calories)!.

To get your real daily caloric expenditure you need to factor in your daily activity!. One of the best ways to do this is using the Harris Benedict Equation (You can find it at http://www!.bmi-calculator!.net/bmr-calcul!.!.!. If you exercise a few days a week and don't have an extremely physical job you probably fall around 1!.55, making your daily caloric expenditure about 2443 (1576 x 1!.55= 2442!.8)!. That means to lose a pound a week you would need to eat about 1932 calories a day!.

Double check my numbers using the formulas I gave!. I did it kind of fast (I am supposed to be working right now) and I may have made a typo in the process!. It looks about right to me though!. You don't want to eat way too little or your body will feed on other energy sources besides fat ( muscle or even internal organs in extreme circumstances)!.

I hope this helps, good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would join sparkpeople!.com-- it's free, and they'll tell you how many calories you need to be burning and consuming per week, as well as help you chart out how long it will take you to lose your desired weight!. Plus, they chart your BMI and will tell you if you even NEED to lose weight, which you may not!.

good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
