Should I avoid ab exercises until I lose the fat??

I noticed that my belly was getting bigger, rather than more defined after several weeks of ab workouts. Thing is, it does NOT look good! I have a small chest, so my abs look even bigger! Now granted, I've lost probably 20 lbs of fat over the past three months, and gained great muscle in my arms and legs, but I still have a layer of belly fat that Im working on getting rid of via hardcore cardio! So, should I just stick to one ab workout a week and focus on fat loss?

I've stuck to a very strict diet of 1200-1500 cal. each day for 13 weeks now. I don't think Im eating too much. :)

YES! The last place for fat loss is in your ab area. I am going through the same thing. I am still hitting the weights but only doing 2 ab workouts per week. I have intensified my cardio to about 5 days per week. SO, the answer to your question is YES!!
