A great resource for know how many calories are burned during exercise is Sparkpeople!.com!. The site is time based, whether than rep based!.!.!. but, according to the cardio tracker on sparkpeople!.com, doing one minute of VIGOROUS (not slow and controlled!.!.!.which is more of a cardio workout then a strength training workout) situps burns 12 calories!. !.!.!.But, there are MANY other exercises you can do that burn more calories for your minutes!.!.!.'Vigourous' Stationary Bicycling burns 17 calories per minute!. (I like to stretch, warm up, do 5-10 minutes of moderate cycling (11 calories) and then do 5-10 minutes of vigorous cycling!.!.!. 20 minutes usually twice a day!.!.!. but for 20 minutes that 280 calories, and for 40 minutes that's 560 calories!.!.!.!.20 minutes of sit ups is 240 calories!.!.!.and there are TONS of exercises that don't require equipment that burn 12 or more calories per minute!.)

You can go through and browse the exercises on sparkpeople!.com (click the myfitness tab after you register [it doesn't take long, and it's free], and scroll down to the 'cardio' section, and click add cardio!. You can search for exercises by keyword or browse all the exercises!. [same with the strength training above it!.])!.

!.!.!.But, crunches are much more effective at toning and building ab muscles!.!.!. and if one of the problems is fat around the ab/stomach area, you'll have to do cardio to burn the fat to be able to see the results from the strength training workout!. There is an article on the spark site that explains why they don't calculate calories for strength training!.!.!.basically there are too many variables!.!.!. depends on how much you weigh, how much effort is put into it, how slow you are doing the exercises (for one person 1 minute worth of weight lifting could be like 30 reps, and for another it could be 60!.!.!.) etc!.!.!. You can find a link to the article above the strength training section in my fitness!.

Calorie burn calculator:
http://www!.internetfitness!.com/calculato!.!.!.

(the way they calculate calories burned for each of the sites is approxamate!.!.!. it depends on your weight, and how much effort is put into it!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com
