Bike Riding?!

Question:

Bike Riding?

I've been starting to bike ride for exercise early in the morning for about an hr each day. I've been doing this for a few weeks now. I eat healthy (if I eat bread, I make sure it's whole wheat; I get plenty of protein, I drink lots of water, I cut out snacks), but, it seems as if the fat isn't shrinking and now clothes that fit 'snug' now barely fit at all. I want my thighs to be toned, but not too muscular and I want to lose weight while doing this as well.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Answers:

I think your body is getting a bit larger because you are making more muscle. This is good, though, because it actually means you are healthier.

The more effort your muscles have to put fourth to do something, the bigger they will get. If you are riding up steep hills, that may be the problem. To get toned muscles, you are supposed to do lighter work for a longer period of time.

In weight training, to get big muscles you would do a few reps of a large weight. To get toned muscles, but not big ones, you would do many reps of a small weight.
