Question: Applying for the Army!.!.!. Need Help!.!.!.!?
Can anyone help me please!.!.!. I need to be able to run 1!.5 miles in 9 minutes!.!.!. does anyone have any advice on how to get quicker!.!.!.!. I am doing it at the moment in 15 minutes which I know is not great!. But I have only just started!. I also need help on how to improve on push ups!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know where you found out you have to run 1!.5 miles in 9 minutes (maybe to get a max score)!. Are you joining the US Army!? Depending on your height and weight, you really only need to run 13 min for female and 11 min for a male to be solid!. Anyway, if you're running on a track, a good way to improve your speed is to sprint straightaways and run easy around the bends!. Otherwise, just practice will get you to your goal!. Try to run around 4 days a week but only test your 1!.5 time once!. Another say, maybe sprint 400 yards at a time, 6 times!. Another, maybe run as far as you can (3 to 5 miles regarless of time), and practice running on hills!.
As for pushups, again, 3 days a week, do as many as you can, then drop to modified and do as many as you can!. Rest 1-2 minutes, and repeat as many as you can!. Do 3 sets, 3 times per week!.
From experience, I can tell you boot camp is much more then passing your fitness test!. Its going to be full days (16 hours or more), a lot of walking, hiking, sitting in classrooms where instructors make sure you stay awake, etc!. You want to be in the best endurance shape possible!. Also, it will prepare you for the mental challenges you face!. For me, I decided not to worry about my 1!.5 time ( I knew I would pass), but rather, before boot camp I ran 3-5 miles at a time to build my endurance!. No I didn't win any PT awards, but boot camp came relatively easy for me because of my physical conditioning!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

9 mins is very quick for an army entrance test are you sure youre right!?!.!.!.the uk royal marines have to do it in under 10 mins and the us navy seals have 11 mins 30!.!.!.however it is easily achieved if you have access to a treadmill to do interval training on!.!.!.and it measures your distance accurately!.!.!.to run intervals you would jog 5 mins to fully warm up, then increase the pace until you are running at three quarters your top pace for as long as possible (at least 2 mins) then go back to an easier pace and keep repeating 3 or 4 times per workout!.!.!.!.

once per week - go all out as fast as you can at the distance, if the treadmill is in KM it is 2!.4

the key to push ups is correct technique and little and often - try and do your maximum every hour or so during the day or while you are making a drink!.!.!.at every opportunity - then again once per week try for your maximum - each time you do this try and beat your last score

Wouldn't say I was bang into what you're doing!. But I'm sure you've thought it through and hope it turns out alright for you!.!.!.

Best tip I can give you straight away is to WARM UP and STRETCH before you do the run!. It takes most people 10 minutes to get their muscles working at their best capacity!. Aim to get proper out of breath during your warm up!.

THIS WILL IMPROVE YOUR TIME!.

By just going straight into a run, all you are doing is running cold!. To prove this to yourself, try running half mile cold!. Stretch out, rest 2-3 minutes and run the half mile back!. Your second time will be faster for definite even though you think you'd be knackered!.

Practice alone can improve ur timing!.

Eat well but only when hungry and not more than thrice a day!. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%!. To have more satisfaction out of ur food, Chew each morsel at least 32 times!. This will also activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness!. Obey these signals!. Do not go on fast or starvation diet!.

Nothing other than water in between!.

No special diet, call it by any name or program helps as one cannot adopt them on permanent basis!. Diet pills are chemicals and per se bad and shud be avoided unless the doc considers it necessary looking at ur condition!.

Take light exercises and brisk walks for 30 min!.regularly preferably on empty stomach and twice a day!.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time and hassle free!.

Be patient and not in a hurry!.

U cannot choose spots for reduction!.

This schedule can be adopted on permanent basis to lead a healthy life and maintain weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
