Smoking/running concern?!

Question: Smoking/running concern!?
for about a year now ive been a runner of about 25miles a week but ive also been a smoker for the last 15years!.(im 33)

i decided at long last to "see how i run without been a smoker",!.so five days ago i (for a taster) ive only smoked 4 cigaretes per day, when the cravings are too much instead of the usual 20 per day!.

almost instantly my running improved!.i knocked a huge 5mins off my personal best 6mile run!.which felt great and even more enjoyable!.!.!.!.!.!.
BUT!!!!!!
i have gained a massive 10lbs in the last five days also!.
i havent been eating extra as ive been feeling dissy and sick due to nicotine cravings for most of the day!.
im 5ft 7",ive weighed 140lbs since i was about 18yrs old!.
will this weight increase continue!?
ive always wanted to gain a little extra weight, but at this rate,i think id rather be a thin smoker than batteling been overweight!?
what does everybody think!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
There is nothing good to be gained by smoking so try your best to stay off them!. As for your sudden weight gain it should soon settle down!.
You may eventually end up a few pounds more than you were as long as you keep up the running (this will be muscle) and don't compensate for the loss of cigarettes by eating more!. You will feel healthier and have more energy if you keep off the cigs and keep up your fitness!.
Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Smoking causes a small metabolism increase, so people who quit end up with slightly slower metabolisms!. ALSO, smokers are left with an oral fixation that needs filling, so they usually end up putting more food in their mouths!.

Your metabolism will balance out before too much longer, but in the mean time, you're really going to have to watch what you eat, how often, and your portions!.

Also, your little bit about being a thin smoker vs being overweight is a bit mentally disturbed!. Smoking has far more risks than being overweight!. In fact, there have been some recent studies showing that there are quite a few overweight individuals who are in 'perfect health', while many in the 'normal' weight range are anything BUT 'healthy'!. Yet, the risks known about smoking are still existent, no matter what your weight is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
