Theory re: those 'sweat around the belly to lose fat' belt things?!

Question: Theory re: those 'sweat around the belly to lose fat' belt things!?
Some people say they make you sweat off fat!.

Others (which I'm more inclined to believe), say you don't "sweat off" fat, spot reduction is impossible in all its forms, you only sweat off water around the mid-section, don't be stupid!.

Sweating off the water around the mid-section DOES help you look a little better for a quickie trim-down, BUT!.!.!.

Here's my main question:

Since all chemical reactions in the body take place in the presence of water,

Isn't it possible that wearing these sweat band waist things might actually *inhibit* the reduction of fat (lipids) through exercise!? Wouldn't dehydrating the area around the fat cells actually inhibit the process of body fat percentage reduction through exercise (at least in that area)!?

Thanks for any insight you might lend!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not enough to change the rate of biochemical reactions!.

Actually, I don't think the "spot dehydration" theory works unless there is *excess* water being held in the tissues, outside the cells, that is kept out by the steady pressure!. Sort of like the way support stockings work!. Fluid leaks from capillaries and causes swelling of the ankles, when vein circulation is inadequate, and the stockings compress the tissue and prevent swelling!. If there's edema at all, pressure will reduce it!. But keeping the right water balance inside a cell is a top cell housekeeping priority, and I don't think physical pressure from a wrap would change it or affect metabolism locally!.

Sweat is produced by glands - I think they get their water from the bloodstream and so sweating wouldn't affect local edema or hydration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I found this at Hubpages!. It explains a bit about those gadgets and also has videos of exercises that will really work to flatten your abs!.

I wouldn't be concerned about the dehydration and the effect on fat cells since the area is relatively small!. However if you were to keep your entire body in a constant dehydrated state you would inhibit fat loss!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
