Answers:
It depends on what you are trying to do!. Are you trying to eat only a certain number of calories a day, are you trying to eat low-fat, or a combination of both!?

The nutrition labels give you information PER SERVING!. At the top it will list the total number of calories per serving!.

The total number of calories comes from three parts: proteins, carbohydrates, and fats!. Some foods don't get any of their total calories from fats, and some get a portion of their calories from fats!. Something like oil would get all of it's calories from fat!.

For example, i'm looking at a food label for peanuts!. Per serving there are 160 calories!. It also says that 110 of these calories come from the fat in the peanuts!. It also on the label, lists the amount of fat in terms of grams: 14 grams!. It also lists what percentage of the recommended daily intake of fat this makes up: 21%!. In other words, the food and drug administaration recommends you do not eat more than about 70 grams of fat a day!.!.!. this is based on someone weighing about 200 pounds if i remember right!.!. it would be less if you don't weigh as much!. If you are trying to lose wieght, you will want to keep that amount much lower!.

Many people who are trying to lose weight, both limit their number of calories and eat less fat, too!. Fat has more calories per tablespoon than most other foods and it is more readily turned into fat on your body!. In general, eat 10x in calories the number of pounds you wish to weigh + extra for exercise!. Do NOT drop below 1200 calories a day under any circumstances!. In other words, say you weigh 150 lbs and you want to weigh 130 lbs!. 130 x 10 is 1300!.!.!. 1300 calories a day might be a good intake of calories, but if you are also burning 400 calories a day in exercise, this jumps up to 1700 calories a day that you'll need to eat!. This is very general!!.!.!. but i wanted to give you an idea how it works!. The more exercise you do, the more calories you need to fuel your body without making yourself weak!.

In general, good dietary foods include: whole grains, high fiber foods, vegetables and fruits, lean protein, nuts, fish, beans, whole grain pasta (in moderation), unsweetened green tea!.

Foods more inclined to make you fat include: high fat foods, corn syrup, soda, very processed foods, white flour foods like bagels, muffins, etc!., fatty meats, salt, regular pasta, white rice, white bread, sugar, butter, margarine, soda and soft drinks!.

Some people think dairy products help you to lose weight and some feel it makes you gain weight!. If you decide to use dairy go for less fatty dairy like skim milk, low fat cottage cheese, mozzarella, low fat yogurt or use in small amounts!.

Some people also think that artificial sweeteners also make us fat!.!.!. the jury is still out on that one!.!.!. more studies are being done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Both!. In general when dieting the most essential is the total amount of kcal, however, you always need to try to be within the recommended range of each nutrient (fat, carbs and protein)!. If you get more of one nutrient than you need, it is more likely that what's left of the nutrient ingested, will be stored as fat!. Note also, that if a certain food product contain lots of fat kcal, the total amount of kcal will be high as well!. 1 gram of fat is equivalent to 9kcal where both a gram of carb and protein is equivalent to 4kcal!. Hope that helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Unless you have a cholesterol problem, I'd only worry about total calories!. If your someone who needs to watch choleseterol or want to watch fats, and concerned about weight!. then you watch them both!. If you need to watch cholesterol, but thin, then you only need to be concerned about the fat calories and the cholesterol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should look at both!. a "low-fat" diet is 30% calories from fat!. the calories is the calories overall!. the calories from fat is the calories that are not nutrients, but fat!.

for example, if something has 120 calories, and 40 calories from fat, that is 30% calories from fat, and therefore, good to eat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the less calories from fat the better!!!fat is very hard for your body metabolise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
