Starvation mode?!

Starvation mode?
My health teacher told em that once your body goes in to starvation mode, anything you eat will turn in to fat... so basically, if i eat a piece of lettuce after a day of starving, it won't be the same if I ate it when I was not starcing... is this true?
I staved all day yesturday because I had a severe toothache from my recent root canal treatment. I thought it might be a good excuse for me to lose weight for once. I was going to start with a glass of water with vinegar, apple, and oatmeal with brown sugar. Better ideas? Should I forget the oatmeal? Or will there be no point of me eating "healthy"???

the body goes into starvation mode after a longer period of time without food..so some people who try severe diets don't get results because they take in less food then the minimum. it's fine that you didn't eat for one day (you weren't starving). and it's great you want to start eating healthy. I'd choose honey instead of brown sugar and green tea instead of water with vinegar:)
