Heartbeat/calories?!

Question:

Heartbeat/calories?

People say the faster your heart beats during a work out the more calories you burn. Can you burn calories solely on having a high heartbeat? or do you actually need the physical activity to lose them? For example if i jump rope for 1 minute it gets my heart beat very high. Then if I rest for 1 minute my heart beat will slowly decrease but will still be high. Will I lose calories while resting?

Answers:

Yes, when your heartbeat rises so do the amount of calories you burn just sitting there. This is how ephedrine, the banned fat burner, works.

Ephedrine was banned for that reason. People would have elevated heart rates all day which is why when you took it you had massive amounts of energy. I used to take it and before/during/after working out it felt like my heart was pumping out of my throat! I stopped taking it soon after.

Also, this is the same reason some people are advocates of HIIT cardio routines because your heart rate is highly elevated and stays slightly elevated for hours after done working out.
