My son will not eat veg.will he have health problems when he is older?!

Question: My son will not eat veg!.will he have health problems when he is older!?
Answers:
Here's a trick that's worked with all of my godchildren and friends' kids:

Get veggies in their food without them knowing it's there!.

Make soups and stews with cooked and puree'd veggies!. Also, most kids like spaghetti, so when you're making the sauce (because I hope you're not using Ragu), puree in some zucchini, carrots, and spinach!. I promise you they won't even know it's in there if you really liquefy the veggies!.

Another good way is to try adding them to pizza!. Bury them UNDER the cheese!.

You could also get a juicer and make fresh juice with apples and celery or oranges and carrots or just use natural fruit juices to help them get the vitamins and all that they need!.

There are LOTS of ways to "trick" kids, but the other thing to remember is that you really need to be more firm about it!. Don't let him up from the table!. I know, he'll scream and pitch a fit, but let him!. Go in the other room, but where you can keep an eye on him!. Go do something "fun" and explain to him that he can join you when he's cleaned his plate of the veggies!. He'll throw them across the room, fake gag, you name it!. Just don't give in!. YOU are the parent, and you know what's best for him!. He'll hate you for 5 minutes, but when he's rewarded for doing the right thing, he won't remember hating you so much!. ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

No I do think he will have majour health problems from not eating veg, as long as he isn't eating an unhealthly diet full of sweets and greasy foods!.
If he likes eating burgers, sausage and those sorts of foods then it would be a good idea to by the Quarn vegetarian ones which look and taste just like meat but have a much less calorific value!.
It depends on his age also, lots of kids if they haven't been brought up eating vegetables will be reluctant to try them as it's not something they are used to!. As you get older your taste buds change so just because he isn't eating veg right now as he gets older he probably will!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some children won't eat vegetables as they don't like the texture, others simply don't like the taste!.

Have you tried disguising the veg - most kids love mashed potato so you could always try mashing boiled parsnip into it but don't add too much or it'll make the potato really sweet (dead giveaway!)!.

My Mum went thorugh this with me, she concocted tonnes of ways to purree and disguse veg as pasta sauces, etc - sadly, nothing worked when it came to brussels sprouts though!.

As someone else said, if your son refuses veg point blank apart from serving them everyday (the old battle of wills thing), you may have to resort to vitamin suppliments!. As long as the remainder of his diet is good, there shouldn't be too much of a problem as when he's older his tastes may well change!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he NEVER eats vegetables, that will be an issue, but there are many ways now to make eating vegetables attractive to children!. My answer came in the form of an infomercial!. It is that vegetable cutting kit that uses all fruit and veggies to make a flower bouquet!. Doesn't take long and the kids I watch will eat vegetables in the shape of a leaf or flower anytime!. Also, for a simpler answer, try cooking the vegetables a different way!. If raw isn't working (sometimes the texture is the problem) then try steaming!. Also, try looking outside the box of normal vegetables!. There are many options besides carrots and green beans!. Steamed asparagus with a little garlic is always a hit around here!. And if none of that works, depending on the age of your child, give him outside motivation!. Show him all the wonderful things that eating vegetables can do for him!. Point out specific things that each vegetable can do, like better eyesight like Superman!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its likely he will face some health issues BUT dont worry because I have a solution!. Jessica Seinfeld wrote a book called 'Deceptively Delicious'!. All the recipes are her own and basically all you do is puree vegetables and then add them to other foods to make healthy meals!. Your son will be getting the goodness of the veggies and he wont even realise it!

I first saw this when Jessica went on Oprah!. They tested some of the foods out on children and they didnt even realise!. It was so cute! It actually made me want to buy the book for myself!

Oh but I also think that you should every now and again encourage him to try vegetables!. Its important that as he get older he learn that you have to have a balance between food groups!.

No!. He will acquire wider tastes as he becomes older!. If you and your wife eat vegetables in the end he will start to copy you!. There is no point in forcing him at this stage!. You could try him with fruit!. The Americans serve fruit in a jelly with salads so you could always try something like that!. My son was a very picky eater when he was young!. He is now a 6'2" major in the marines!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes,

He needs a balanced diet when he is growing!.

His body won't form correctly with missing vitamins, nutrients etc, poorly formed bones and internal organs,!.

Health problems in the future!.

You say he won't eat them, but only because you allow him not to eat them!.

Don't make a fuss about veg, but but don't feed him anything after dinner if he refuses to eat it all!.

No pudding, no sweets, crisps, chocolate, coke, if he won't eat all his food (normal child portion)!. No extra MEAT either!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I was a kid I wouldn't eat veg either put loved dairy products!.

Im now in my 40's and started eating veg over the last 7 years!.

Im very fit & healthy and I don't seem to have any health problems!. Im average height and weight!.

It would be better if he did eat some veg but if he won't don't worry!. try blitzing them up and mixing them in with other stuff he likes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yup, just make him stay at a table until he eats all the veggies on his plate, at first dont give him loads just like a florret of broccoli or something and then add some carrot, potatoes, peas etc!.
Good luck! =]

PS!. Dont give up! If he leaves the table make him get back in the seat, if he dosent make it happen!. and just keep going like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

most likely yes!. You could be stricter! I wasnt allowed to leave the table until i ate my veges, and sometimes i sat there til 10!.30!! I always ate them eventually, its just easier!. Your kid konws your a push over, and it will continue with everything that you try to make rules for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he won't eat it you need to find alternative supplements of the vitamins you need which are in veg!. You need particular vitamins for your body to function properly so yes he might!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
