Vegetables for Strong Bones?!

Question:

Vegetables for Strong Bones?

My sister told me about someone in her company, a lady who came down with cancer, and this lady was put on a special anti-cancer vegetarian diet. This special diet was completely meatless and also it was not like most vegetarian diets -- it was certain vegetables selected specifically for fighting cancer.

Well, this diet made all cancer cells in her body go away, and also she finally slimmed down, from being somewhat chubby before. You see, without meat in her diet, the vegetarian diet significantly reduced her appetite.

Most significantly, at least for the purposes of this question, is this: her bones and fingernails/toenails became rock hard. That's what I want to know about.

Which vegetables do I need to eat regularly to get strong bones and nails? And do I need to go meatless for that to happen? (Does having meat in the diet cause you not to be able to build strong bones, like if perhaps if it blocks the absorption of calcium?)

Thanks,
C.L.

Answers:

Kale is notorious for its calcium as are sesame seeds ! Pretty much the leafy/ dark greens have some amount of calcium, ie brocolli and spinach. Also, contrary to popular belief, milk and dairy steal the calcium from your bones to help break down and process the protien found in milk!
