I Jump-Roping Bad for your Brain?!

Question:

I Jump-Roping Bad for your Brain?

I was looking for some great workouts and i decided to do jump-roping, but i heard some rumours that it's bad for your brain because of jumping up and down too much, should i still consider jump-roping or look for another work out?

Answers:

If it were bad for brain, running and other high impact sports would be bad for your brain also.
If you do not have any previous injuries or joint problems that might be affected by the impact then I say go for it. Try to avoid jumping on concrete, as this will make the impact worse, instead jump on grass, a wooden or carpeted floor or a mat.
You can vary the kind of jumping you do also by changing speed or height of you jump (a double turn of the rope on each jump). You can also jump 1 foot at a time like a little jog, or bring your knees up as high as you can (once again with 1 foot at a time).
Jumping rope can be tough going but is a great exercise as it will burn calories, increase coordination and cardio fitness, work your muscles and stengthen your bones. If you can only skip for a few minutes at a time then break up your workout and maybe do 3 lots of 10 minutes instead of 1 x 30min. As your fitness improves extend the time so that you are continually challenging yourself.
