maximum heart rate is calculated using the formula
210 - age/2
now maximum heart rate acheived depends on the strength of the exercise, or you can define strength of your exercise by the heart rate acheived!.
mild 65% of maximum HR
moderate 65-75% of max HR
severe 75-85% of max HR
this is an arbitary range!.
a trained athlete can do severe grade of exercise without increasing the heart rate!. or u can say that heart rate gradually falls with training!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It really depends what your goals are!.

Maximum heart rate (also called STD, or HRmax) is the highest number of times your heart can contract in one minute, or the heart rate that a person could achieve during maximal physical exertion!. It is not the maximum one should obtain often during exercise!. MHR is used as a base number to calculate target heart rate for exercise

The heart beats about 60 to 80 times a minute when we're at rest!. Resting heart rate usually rises with age, and it's generally lower in physically fit people!.

If your goal is to lose fat, and not lose muscle you want to stay in a range of about 65% of your max heart rate!. This will be your training target heart rate!.
