Your biggest mistake would be not eating! When you eat just once or twice a day, your metabolism goes into starvation mode and hangs onto every bit of fat it can. I recommend eating 5-6 small meals a day (a small mean can be a salad and an apple or cottage cheese and some fruit) and drinking 10+ 8oz glasses of water. If you'll combine this with cardio (30 minutes 3x a week) and weightlifting (muscle burns fat so this will help as well - no worries about bulking up, if you stick to higher reps you'll tone up).
