It can take a long time because iron supplements aren't easily absorbed!. The average person's body will only dissolve and absorb 20% of most solid supplements and will eliminate the remaining 80%

I can not quantify that but here are some things you can do to increase the absorption of iron!. Do not take it with calcium!. If you are taking calcium in the night then take iron in the morning with breakfast because iron and calcium do not go well together!. Supplement your iron intake with vitamin c as iron tends to constipate you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Treatment times vary, depending on the individual patient, and the degree of deficiency!. Generally speaking, one to two weeks before re-evaluation!.
Care must be taken not to push the patient into the other extreme, Hemochromatosis - which is an excess of free iron in the blood!.
I DO NOT recommend self-medicating for this condition!. If you know you suffer from IDA, you must have been diagnosed by a physician or other health care provider!. I *highly* recommend you follow his or her prescribed treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
