How do i up my caloric intake without putting on weight?!

Question:

How do i up my caloric intake without putting on weight?

well, i was very unhappy with my weight a few months ago at 180, and well now, 6 months later,i'm 125. now, i couldn't have done this the healthy way although i did put in 40 minutes of excercise per day.. and now that i look at it it seems that i had put myself on a severe starvation diet at about 800 cals a day - but i had all the essential vitamins and minerals per day. i'm ready to come off this diet, but i'm afraid that if i do i will upset my metabolism and put on 2x the weight that i started at. how should i go on with losing weight.. i only want to lose 10 lbs more and tone up my arms.. but be considered healthy?

Answers:

increase your caloric intake slowly, but consistently. at 800 calories a day, your body is in starvation mode. when you start to eat normally, your body will grab all the food and convert it into fat. it wants to protect itself for another famine. still, starvation diets are VERY dangerous, so you definitely need to eat more. how about adding 200 more calories/day every week? in a little over a month, you'd be eating normally.

i know it's hard, but if you call your medical insurance agency they can arrange an appointment with a dietician who will tell you what you need to do. ask for one who specializes in eating disorders, so he/she will be more sensitive to your fears and apprehensions.

best of luck.
