More better-for-you eating out options?!

Question:

More better-for-you eating out options?

I try, when I can, to look up the resturant's menu before I go out to choose something to eat ahead of time and I know these rules already:

Make special requests - salad dressing to the side, condiments to the side, less oil when cooking, smaller servings, ect.

I also know the best foods are usually steamed, garden fresh, broiled, baked, roasted, poached, lightly sauteed, or stir-fried.

Got any other tricks up your sleeves?

Answers:

Order things that you cannot get at home, that way you get your money's worth.

Have water with a lemon or lime instead of some fancy-shmancy drink.

Pay the 99 cents to substitute a salad for fries.

Get the house salad with no cheese and a low fat vinaigrette.

Don't eat anything that has ingredients you can't pronounce (this goes for processed foods at home too).

Big chain restaurants tend to mass produce things. So opt for small and local.
