To people who have successfully lost a lot of weight (over 40 pounds))?!

Question: To people who have successfully lost a lot of weight (over 40 pounds))!?
I have about 56 pounds to lose!. I have struggled with my weight for years and yoyo between being "overweight" and "borderline obese"!. I can't afford to join a gym and I have serious allergies to wheat and dairy so I can't do Slimfast!.

I've given myself a max!. of one year to lose the weight!. I am actually quite fit and capable of running 5km!.

My biggest problem is that I crave carbs (not junk, I never eat fried or fast food) but I load up on potatoes, brown rice etc!. I just don't feel full without it, even when I up my intake of protein!.

My plan of action consists of:

Exercise 5-6 days a week:
- Power walking every morning for 1 hour!.
- Run every evening, building up to 1 hour
Diet
- Carbs only allowed at breakfast!.
- Unlimited raw vegetables throughout the day
- No red meat, or processed food
- Fish and veg for lunch and dinner (or egg white omlette with veg)
- Min!. 2 litres of water a day!.

What do you think of this!? Good plan!? Should I do anything differently!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
that plan is good but i would not avoid carbs too much!. first, its what you crave and second your body does need some healthy carbs!.

when you give up something you crave, it will be more likely that you will give into that craving and either over do it or eat the wrong things!. try sweet potato instead of regular potato!. it coins less carbs than other potatoes or have the regular ones and make it a small portion!.

Add some weight to your exercise!. muscles burn calories!. even if its just weights when you power walk!. and then go from there!.

make sure you have healthy snacks!. try to keep yourself from feeling you are starving because you will overeat when you finally eat!.

You will probably have a bad day where you eat the wrong things and/or don't exercise!. don't let that ruin your plan!. everyday is a new day to continue and don't let a bad day stop your overall goal!.

Don't be ruled by the scale!. take measurements!. arms, thighs, waist, etc!. muscle weighs more than fat!. and as you run your legs could become more muscular and even though you are still loosing fat, you might not loose weight!.

good luck!. you have chosen a healthy way to loose weight and i know you will accomplish your goals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A good diet to go on is a "diabetic" type diet!. Although there is no officila diet formulated for diabetics, the types of foods and quantities allowed will get you in to shape!. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and eating that diet has helped me lose 3 pounds in a week and 23 lbs since August of last year!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bally's has a gym membership for $20!.00 a month!. The only stipulation is that you can only go three times a week!. However, that's really the recommended amount of time for exercise!. Its always good to have someone do these things with you, not only for support, but also for competitive motivation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try Michael Thurmond's 6 week body makeover!. It takes into account what your body craves and figures out why!. I did it for 12 weeks and lost nearly 50 lbs!. It really works and it all easy!.

your body needs carbs!. and 50-60% of your diet needs to be carbs!. Just dont eat them late at night!. watch your meal proportions (this is a huge factor)!. log everything in a diet journal!. also, watch the sauces you eat!. for instance on a sandwich!.!.!.mayo/ranch is high in calories!. and the only other thing i can think of to go with ur plan is dont forget to log drink calories!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

become a vegan!.!.!.!.!.this no carbs crap is rubbish!.!.!.!.!.!.!. veganism will help shift all your excess weight!.!.!.!.it did me, when i became vegan i lost alot of weight and eventually found my natural weight!.!.!. dairy is a big problem in diets, do some research on it!.!.!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

every things good apart from the water!.if you drink too much water you can literally drown your insides!.i watched a programme about it once!.drink around 1!.5L!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go for it!. The only thing I would add is getting some dumbells and doing some resistance work as well!. Developing muscles really accellerates the calorie burn!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Honestly, I did not read your whole question!. I'm just going to tell you how I lost 40 lbs!.
I didn't cut out all carbs, or all meats or all of anything!. I actually kept in all that plus the junk food!.
I cut EVERYTHING down, smaller portions, for snacking though instead of always going for a handful/ bagful of something!. I always carried w/ me carrots or pretzels!. You do get use to it!.
Good luck, I really did lose 40 lbs!. w/o exercising!. NOW my up keep is cardio in the gym!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have lost a lot of weight on diets in the past, but then piled the pounds back on again when I returned to normal!. I think it's best to forget diets and reduce your calorific intake to a level that you can sustain for the rest of your life!.
I'm thinking of doing this myself!. I believe the best way to approach this is to have at least one treat day a week (Saturday!?), where I eat and drink pretty much what I like!. Therefore I have one day a week to look forward to for some oral delights!. The rest of the week I have to keep quite a tight rein on what I consume!.
Always remember you can gain weight with only a couple of hundred surplus calories - calories that you don't burn off!. So presumably somebody with quite a sedentary lifestyle (most of us) who is normally slim, would gain weight just by adding one packet of crisps a day to their intake!. Frightening, isn't it!?
I could do with losing nearly 70lbs, by the way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
