Your abs are different then the rest of your muscles!. Most of your muscles (chest, back, bis and tris etc!.) build and grow while your work them out and push them, abs however grow while they are resting!. It is important to give your body a break!. Your two options are do a little bit of abs each day OR do a hard ab workout every other day!.

There is also a common misconception that doing a bunch of something is better!. However it can be equally or even more effective to do smaller sets with more weight!. A good routine is to do sets of 12 or 25 but adding weight to your situps by using either a medicine ball or dumbells, and holding them over your head as you do the sit up!. If your doing it right and using the right amount of weight youll be exhausted by the time you get to that 25 sit up or leg lift or w/e, and you should feel like you cant do even one more!. This is the same for just about all ab workouts!. Its called tearing down your muscle and it is very effective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What kind of hurt is it!?!?

If it is more of an achy muscle pain, then you probably have worked that muscle group to the point of exhaustion and it is now repairing itself!. Give it a rest for a couple of days, which at that point it will be getting stiff with the new muscle growth so it is important that you continue to stretch it out!. You can stretch it out by lacing your fingers, raising your arms above your head, then arching your back slightly!. If you have an exercise ball, you can lay on it and allow your back to follow the curvature of the ball!. That is the easiest safest way to stretch it!.

If your pain is more like a sharp pain, and goes off when you move certain ways and engage certain muscles, you can be certain that you have strained or torn your muscle!. It is important that you quit your exercises until this type of pain ceases!. Do NOT try and stretch it!. It will hurt worse and you can worsen the tear!. Your body will repair it with new muscle and tissue!. You will feel the pain worsen over the next few days then suddenly you will wake up one morning and it will be gone! Muscle healed! Its important that you take it easy the following week so you don't over train it again!.

Most likely, your abs are hurting because you are using them so much!. It is good to break for two 24 hour periods in a week!. You can work out three days, rest for one, work out three days, rest for one; or you can work out five days, rest for two!. Its important that you give your body time to rest!. That way new muscle will form and you won't be at such a high risk to strain or tear it!.

Hope that helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
