Absolutely. Hands down one of the best and most underrated exercises out there. A truly strong person should be able to do 50 without breaking a sweat. If you are advanced try weighted pushups and tell me if you think you are working hard. Here's a chest workout you can use without ever sitting on a weight bench:

Plyometric pushups (lower yourself slowly and push up quickly, trying to clap your hands before coming back down), 2 sets of 10

Weighted pushup with 25lb weight on back - 2 sets until exhaustion.
