Work out questions?!

Work out questions?

have a gym membership that starts a week from friday...i want to work out about 45 minutes in the am them maybe 30 minutes on my lunch break monday-friday and then swim on the weekends. I have a good 25 lbs to lose (and that will out me at about 130) and i want to be in better shape...so i guess my question is, if i start doing this and i feel FINE other than of course the normal aches and pains associeated with working out, is this safe? Would it be better to work out in the am then maybe do a 30 minute jog on my lunch??

AND what are the best over all body workouts? which machines are best...i do want to "target" my belly, hips/thighs and maybe my arms...
i know to drink a lot of water, but what other suggestions do you have?
please dont tell me to consult a doctor before starting...that isnt an option right now...i do have insurance, but i cant afford the copay for a few weeks and i need to start working out NOW

i am not worried about coming back to work sweaty...i can shower at the gym
