Is it okay to start weight lifting at 14 years old?!

Question:

Is it okay to start weight lifting at 14 years old?

i just started weight lifting, and i'm very short like around 5'3 or 5'1 anyways i'm turning 15 and i'm still short, my parents are short though, but my brother's tall even my little brother is almost taller than me, i know it's because of heredity, but does weight lifting makes me even shorter?

Answers:

take it from someone actually experienced with bodybuilding: lifting weights can stunt your growth. lifting weights hardens the plates which in adults builds up density, but in youths it closes them off. meaning NO MORE or LIMITED GROWTH. this is real. and at your height prob not a good idea. the other main issue is the chance of bone damage. this is even more dangerous.

you can lift weights, but should be under supervision and never to failure. you should be using light weights and always be able to get more than 10 reps out on each set, no matter what exercise.
