Tips to Losing Weight?

I'm a girl of 15 and I'm a little taller than 5'6". I weigh 179 pounds. (I do look like I weigh less, though)

I'm going to run a mile on the treadmill every night, and I take karate three times a week for an hour. How long will it take for me to lose thirty pounds?

Also, are there any tips I should follow besides good diet and exercise; in terms of ways to sit, sleep, etc.

okay first off dont listen to bond on the point that walking burns more calories than running. im a marine so i would know. sometimes i wonder where people get their info from anyways. sounds like you are on the right track but if you want to lose weight and keep it off dont reduce your diet by more than 30% from what you were eating previously. i'm talking about calories not anything else. remember, when you exercise you burn off carbohydrates from that day first and then fat after that. I would also suggest that when you get to the point were you can run a mile in 12 min or less increase it it like a mile and a half or 2. you will see a faster improvement the further you run. good luck. ben
