This is an answer that I gave to someone else who was interested in getting a 6-pack!. It may prove useful for you also!.

--------------------------------------!.!.!.

First off, something to be aware of is that there is no such thing as localized fat loss!. For instance if someone has an excess of fat in their arms, doing thousands of bicep curls is not necessarily going to rid them of that fat!. Fat loss happens in every part of the body at the same time!. That is why people who have been losing weight will look thinner not only where they perform the exercise, but also in places such as their face! The same principle goes for abdominal fat loss!. It is a myth that doing crunches will automatically create the outcome of 6-pack abs!. Yes doing crunches will increase abdominal muscle strength and therefore give you the benefits that come with that such as better posture, etc, but it is not rare for someone with insanely strong abdominals to have a layer of fat over their abs no matter how many crunches they do!.

Fat cells are the body's most readily usable form of energy to replenish muscle cells that have been tired out!. In order for the body to convert the most amount of fat cells into energy (literally burning the fat), you will want to deplete the largest amount of energy from your muscle cells as possible!. The largest muscle group in the body is in the legs (quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, etc), so, as counterintuitive as it may seem, the best exercise to developing a 6-pack would actually be squats (or alternatively, the leg press)!.

To reiterate, crunches will absolutely make your abs stronger, and more firm to the touch, but are not the key to automatic 6-pack abs, as so many infomercials will have you believe!. The key is to deplete large amounts of energy from large muscle groups, which will then burn fat in order to replenish those muscle energy stores!. If you do this, not only will you see fat leave your stomach area, but because fat loss happens proportionally all over the body, you will seem to become "more toned" in all parts of your body!.

As with any strength training routine, a healthy diet (calories per day = approx!. body weight x 10), and cardiovascular exercise (in order to keep the heart and lungs healthy) will optimize the results!. All this being said however, for 1 exercise that will be most conducive to a 6-pack, choose the squat or leg press!.
--------------------------------------!.!.!.

Let me know if you'd like any further information or ideas for workouts!. For now, perhaps try a 4 day routine!. Day 1, Chest (arms) and upper back, Day 2, lower back and abs, Day 3, legs (quads calves, hamstrings), Day 4 rest!. Then begin again with Day 1!. This will give each muscle group actually 3 full days of rest before you work them again, which should be absolutely sufficient for allowing the muscle tissue to repair itself properly, and thus allow you to get stronger!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to rest your muscles at least one or two days a week!. When you work a muscle hard, it gets many small tears in it!. When it repairs these tears, the muscle become bigger and stronger than before!.It takes about 72 hours for these repairs to finish, so you need to rest the muscle while it rebuilds itself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
