Question: Is it true that if you try to work out your abs!.!.!.!.!?
Is it true that if you try to work out your abs and you have a little belly fat (not an extreme amount) that the abs will just go under the bellly fat and make your stomach look bigger!? A friend told me this and I'm not sure whether or not to believe him!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
working out the abs does not get rid of baby fat!. Only running and doing stuff that raises your heart rate ( biking, swimming, walking, sex) will do that!.

What you are doing with crunches is toning and strengthening your abs!. You certainly will not increase the size of your abs as you would if you were to work out your pecs (because for that you would use a bench press which means you would probably go over 100 pounds of weight to lift), but your muscle is getting stronger and when muscle gets stronger it simply gets bigger!. The "ab crunch" is not strainful enough ont he muscle as the bench press, so the muscle will not grow as large but the muscle will grow anyways!.

In short, your abs might make your gut look bigger, but i doubt that by a significantly noticeable amount!. it might be a few milimmiters around the waist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

To an extent yes!.!.!.
Doing sit ups and other ab muscle building exercises is making the muscle bigger, yes!.
Diet and cardio is the only way to burn fat over that muscle!.

But it goes both ways, the more ab muscle u have, the faster the fat on top will burn while doing cardio!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
