When u sweat do u lose weight?!

Question: When u sweat do u lose weight!?
Answers:
I'm going to attempt to answer your question principally by addressing some of the incorrect prior answers!. The basic answer is; yes you do lose weight when you sweat!. Following this principle you also lose weight when you have a bowel movement, urinate, or even vomit!. The problem is that the weight you lose will be rapidly replaced!. If you sweat a large volume your body will replace that by making you drink and you will take in at least as much water as you lost through the sweat!. Likewise if you have a large bowel movement, your gastrointestinal system will refill when you eat next and the net will likely be no permanent loss or gain!. The principal also applies to urination!. With urine, and sweat the amount of weight that you lose will basically be about 8 pounds per gallon, needless to say urinating and/or sweating a gallon of material would be difficult on top of being pointless for weight loss in the long run!.

Nicole P says;not really you have to diet and exercise to lose weight
unfortunately Nicole is completely wrong!. She would be right if she said that diet and exercise is required to lose fat but your question was about losing weight!. If you are involved in a severe car crash on the way home, and your entire right leg is amputated you lose weight!. It sounds like a poor way to control your weight but the way your question is asked you need to take into account all possibilities like sweating, urinating, bowel movement, etc!. It's important however not to lose sight of her principal; ultimately weight loss by means of fat loss can only be accomplished by means of restricting calorie intake and maintaining or starting/continuing exercise!.

Rowan says;Only temporarily!. You put it back on again when you drink!.
And of course he is 100 percent correct with that statement!.

likewise Mark says;Yes!. Each liter of sweat weighs more than 1 kilo - but you quickly replace the lost fluid so it's a very temporary thing!.!.!.
and as with Rowan 's answer this is completely correct!.
I've actually been able to see this when I have a particularly strenuous hockey game and I was able to weigh my dry equipment for the game, and the equipment after the game!. Unfortunately it can't account for weight that I would have lost through water vapor in my breath, and if I still living water on my equipment from my water bottle that would falsely elevate the reading!.
Mariah shania is wrong in her response; no its just water but i think it does help!.
It may be just water but it does have mass/weight!.

derke N as the best response of any that I have seen;Yes you do, well once it has evaporated anyway!. You also lose weight when you breathe as moisture is lost this way too!. And when you have a drink you put it back on!.
He specifically addresses the fact that you don't really lose the weight until it has evaporated away!. Basically when you sweat into your clothing your just moving the water from your bloodstream to close, he also mentions the loss of water vapor when you breathe which many people wouldn't take into account!.

Jaydee says;It has been known that excessive sweating looses pounds yer!.!.!. but it takes a while and you just end up smelling, when you exercise and sweat it is better when you sweat there's no doubt about that!.!. just it does come back when you drink becoz yur jus( because you are just) replacing the fluids !.!.!.LOSES pounds not LOOSES pounds! what does "yer" mean!. also you don't end up smelling if you take a shower after a workout!.

benny says:actually you do because your body has to work harder to keep your core temperature the same, so it speeds up your metabolism and therefore burn more calories, it's not just lost water as some of these other idiots are saying, it's really annoying when people answer questions without knowing the facts!. Unfortunately I don't believe benny has it 100 percent either!. He says that your body has to work harder to keep your core temperature the same, and then he complicates that by saying that your body speeds up your metabolism to burn more calories!. So, you're exercising to the point that you are sweating, and likely feeling hot so your body increases its metabolism and burns fat (causing greater heat) this is backwards thinking!. Your body will most certainly not "increase its metabolism" because of your sweating!.

John Drexler says; You loose weight when you are loosing fat(Fats really are stored energy which is stored) you loose them if your body needs energy, like exercising, or when you are hungry!. if you are exercising you loose fat and sweat!.I hope this helps!.
John, you have the principles right but hersome of your answer is not exactly 100% accurate!. For instance, you state that you loose (should be lose) at weight when you are loosing fat, you also lose weight when you are loosing muscle, bone, water, stool, bile, blood, teeth, hair, you are correct that from a practical standpoint prolonged weight loss ultimately hinges on fat loss and not temporary losses like water etc!. I also applaud you for being one of the few to appreciate the fact that fat is ultimately an energy storage device!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
