Just wondering which is better...diet or exercise?

please dont say both..i kno ill do both but which 1 has faster results like which 1 is the main focus?


Answers:

It kind of depends on how overweight someone is and the number of calories they have been ingesting. If they have been taking in a lot of calories, it is relatively easy to create the caloric deficit required to lose weight simply by eating less. There are 3500 calories in a pound. REducing intake by 500 calories per day will result in about a pound of loss per day. If you were taking in 2500 - 3000 calories per day, then taking in 2000 - 2500 you could lose a pound. More reduction = greater loss. As you lose, you cannot reduce the calories to the extent needed to produce the loss alone and exercise becomes infinitely more important to produce loss.

At the beginning of weight loss, exercise contributes about 20%; by the time you are near goal and, especially for maintenance, exercise contributes upwards of 80% +.
