Eating small meals?

I've read in a few places that eating several small meals instead of three big ones helps you lose weight...anyone have more info and ideas?

Take the amount of food that you eat in a day and divide it up over 5 meals. Eating smaller meals helps keep your blood sugars more even and prevents hunger attacks. Additionally continuing to eat small meals keeps your body active digesting that food, which keeps your metabolism up, it is referred to as the"thermic effect of food"
