Answers:

If you are really following Atkins, you should be eating your veggies. People who follow the plan as intended usually find they're eating MORE veggies than they did before.

Did you read the book? I highly recommend that you do so, so that you know exactly what you are doing and why.

As far as I'm concerned, Atkins *when done properly* is the healthiest way to eat. Most people I know who are doing it find that their cholesterol improves, their blood glucose improves, their blood pressure improves and many of the little symptoms they've been living with dissapear.

I've been doing Atkins for two years now, so far I've lost 60 lbs and at a recent checkup my bloodwork was excellent.

Yes, it is normal to feel a bit off for the first week, but you should be back to normal by now. Are you eating enough? Good quality, nutrient dense foods? Are you getting enough water?

Remember, it's intended to be a lifestyle change, not a temporary quick weight loss diet.

EDIT: Ummm...D. Scott, Dr Atkins was 72 when he died as a result of complications from slipping on ice and hitting his head on the sidewalk. His weight at time of admission to the hospital was 190 pounds, but he was in a coma for two weeks and balooned up with all the fluids he was getting.

I don't think that 72 is dying early, and I hope that when I'm 72 I'll still be able to walk to work every day like he did.
