Answers:
You might consider adding more weight!.

I like to do 4 sets of 5!. If your weight is good, you'll be really struggling with the last few reps and the last set will be rather difficult!.

If you're just looking to tone up, then light weights with lots of set are for you!.

If you want to bulk up, the heavy weights with fewer reps may be for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it gets easy, increase the weights!. If you dont' have that option, go ahead and do 60, but you will find less in the way of results!.
As for your original question, no, you shouldn't do the reps until failure, you should only do reps until you cannot do them smoothly any more and hold the weights correctly!. Once the muscles are that tired, you risk injury!. Let them rest a minute or two, then do another set!.

I do highly recommend you increase the weights when doing your reps no longer challenges you!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, if you're doing 30 reps, you're probably doing too many!. Your body isn't going to put on much mass if you're doing higher numbers of reps, and really, once you climb above 15-20 reps, you might as well be doing a cardiovascular workout!.

But to your question, going to a failure is absolutely great on a very limited scale!. Let's say you do 3 sets of 8!. Pressing yourself to failure on your last set is a good thing!. Even better, taking that last set and adding more weight and seeing how far you can go: even better!.

The trick to weightlifting is to keep pressing your body forward!. That's where you experience growth!. Force your body to deal with more weight than it has before!. Mix up your workouts!. Shock your body by dropping from sets of 12 to sets of 4 to 6 with heavier weights!. Then shock it again with higher reps!.

But don't go to failure on every set!. I'd really only recommend it a few times per workout!. It overly stresses your body's nervous system, and if you want optimal growth, don't overdo it!.

Certain exercises like squats simply should not be done to failure--they're not safe!. But squats are an essential part of any workout and are, in my opinion, the single best exercise out there!.

Good luck in your training, man! Learn to listen to your body!. Generally it's telling you what you need to be doing!.

Oh, one more thing: if you want to grow big, eat big! Lots and lots of protein!. A gram per pound of bodyweight, at least!. Lots of water!. And to lean out, you're going to have to cut fat!. That's how you get more cut!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like you need to increase weight being lifted and decrease time between sets!. You really should be executing no more than 10-12 reps with ease and then straining to finish the last three in a set of 15!. My trainer has me do 3 sets of 12-15 on most excersizes!. When it gets easy for me , he jacks up the weight or gives me a variation of the movement to keep my body from getting used to it too soon!. If you can carry on a conversation and knock out 30 reps, you're not challenging your muscles and you won't see improvement!. Try switching to different machines also to recharge your workouts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
