GUYS I need to ask you guys a Q about dumbells and weights?!

Question: GUYS I need to ask you guys a Q about dumbells and weights!?
I want to surprise my husband with a set of dumbells for Father's Day!. However I don't know how much he lifts!. He's athletic but between work and family he has no time for gym and usually works out at home!. So I need to know how much an average athletic guy likes to lift when lifting weights with dumbells - the weight total both dumbells, or the weight per arm/dumbell!. This set I was looking at is the adjustable kind!. Each dumbell holds up to 12!.5 lbs so thats max 25 lbs both dumbells!. But I'm not sure if thats enough!. 10 pts best answer thank you allWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
That is really hard to assume without knowing your husband's height and weight!. 25lbs wouldn't be much if he is an athletic guy, though!.

Addendum: Your husband is the same size as my partner actually!. He advised at least 35 lbs to 50 lbs dumbbells!. Sports Authority have a set of adjustables that go from 10 to 50 for $160!.

I hope that is helpful! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The thing is, some people can look athletic and be surprisingly not very strong and vice-versa!. Ideally he should be looking to do no more then 15 reps at a time!. If you get adjustable weights then obviously he can adjust accordingly and buy heavier wights if needed!. Anything from 15 - 25lbs per arm would be an ideal start!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would be about right for a normal man, however some men strive for better than normal, so get the type of set that heavier individual weights can be purchased later, just in case he wants to bulk up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd say that 25 lbs total is pretty light!. Try to get something that's heavier, but adjustable too!. I know that I can curl 35 lbs easy on each arm, and 80 lbs total when curling a barbell, but that's me and not your husband!. It's a good idea that the dumbells are adjustable, but you'd probably want something that can go up to 35 lbs or more per dumbell!.

That's a really great idea for a gift!. Your husband is a lucky man and should be very happy on Father's Day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
