Loosing body fat.?!

Question:

Loosing body fat.?

My main goal is to lose body fat quickly. I'm not morbidly obese or really obese at all. I just have a little extra body fat on my upper chest and stomach I want to get rid of. My plan is to get rid of this body fat within about five or six weeks, if not sooner, through exercising every day. Simple enough, right?

I was planning on doing aerobic exercises every day - exercising an hour, resting an hour or two, then repeating the process, while eating healthy foods and drinking a lot of water in between. A friend told me that if I did this, I wouldn't really be building muscle at all and it wouldn't be healthy. I said I really didn't care that much about building muscle, as long as I lost body fat.

I guess my two questions are A) Would I be losing body fat quickly and healthfully with a routine like this? and B) Does anybody know of good aerobic exercises I could do to lose fat quickly? I don't run that often, because everytime I do, I end up getting chased by a dog. But others...?

Answers:

This is the basic quest in most people's lives. Here are my best secrets: Eat cottage cheese. It has more protein than tuna, without cholesterol. Eat tuna too. Eat low fat foods, and the fats you eat should be healthy fats like the fats from nuts, avocados, olive oil, etc., not from big macs or greasy foods. Also eat oatmeal for breakfast and put one scoop of protein powder in it. This is the perfect low cal/ low fat / high protein breakfast.

Do cardio at least 6 times per week (15-40 min each). Twice a day might be too high if you are just starting out. Whatever you decide, obviously do weights too so you retain more muscle during your weight loss.

Lastly, for me, doing hours of low speed cardio doesn't do a damn thing. Even if I do 90 minutes per day 7 days/week of walking, nothing happens. If I do half that but running fast, slowing down, and then running fast again over and over again, I get tons of results. This holds true even if the total amount of calories burned at the gym is lower with the running method than the walking method.

Something inside that burns fat just turns on when you run. I suggest HIIT style cardio. And when you do the intense intervals, make them very intense, nearly your fastest running. Even though it is only for 60 seconds, it works like hell.

I have lost 10 pounds of fat over the last 3 months, and actually lost almost no muscle.
