Question: I have heard about weight fluctuation and water retention but!?
How can you accurately tell how much fat you have lost!? I have been exercising and dieting and have seen a lot of fluctuation!. Is there a way I can truly tell if what i'm doing is working!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can regularly get your body fat tested by someone qualified to use skinfolds!. (this is when they take the calipers and pinch your fat)

As for other ways to tell if what you're doing is working:

-Do you feel better!?
-Do people compliment you on how you look!?
-Do your clothes fit better!?
-Are you stronger!?
-Is is easier to do normal activities!?

Stepping on a scale isn't the only indicator and, in my opinion, is the least valuable one!.

People lived for millions of years without worrying about numbers on a scale!. Though it can be a useful tool for progress, use the above indicators as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is harder to do a body mass test!. There is a decent one you can do on your own to gage your progress!. It involves using a tape measure!. Take measurements and use that to keep track or your progress as it is more accurate than the scale!.

When I was in the Air Force we took basic measurements to gage the fat boy program ourselves!. If people were out of that then they were sent to the hospital for an actual body mass test!. It invovled messing the neck, chest and waist for guys and those and the hips for women!. It was 12 years ago so I don't remember the math involved though!. Sorry!.

But if you just measure those and maybe arms and thighs then, as I said, it will still be a better indicator of your progress than the scale!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

BMI thats ******* retarded!.

Photos!. before and after of 4 weeks or more!. (its really easy to forget what you looked like!.)

Body fat % tests (pinch tests) are the most accurate consistently go to your local gym they will probably perform one for $5-15 (they are free with membership so it would depend on your local gym)

if you want to get a potentially more accurate reading!. Weigh yourself in the morning!. before you have eaten record it!. then weigh again at the same time in a week!.

daily readings do not mean anything!.

GOOD LUCK :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

bmi isnt a good way to do it!. that doesnt take into account possible muscle gain!. muscle weighs more than fat so even if you gain you could be slimmer!. the best way to do this would be a fat tet!. idk the technical term but if you do an in home fat test (which you can find online) it will show your improvementsWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should have someone measure your waist, hips, and thighs in inches with a tape measure!. If you want to be specific you need to use a machine that will measure your body fat in percentage!. You could purchase one (pretty pricey) or have a trainer at a gym measure you with calipers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
