Protein has a different impact on metabolism than fats or carbohydrates!.

In a nutshell, unlike carbohydrates, the body has to "work" harder to digest protein and convert it into a form (glucose) that can be utilized by the body for energy!. This can keep blood glucose levels more stable, which can discourage fat storage!.

Protein also contains less calories per gram than fats!. Which means that for the same amount of calories in fat, you can eat a greater volume of protein!. And because the volume of food that you eat impacts satiety (the feeling of being full or satisfied), increasing your protein, while reducing some carbs and fats (but not all), can encourage fat loss!.

You can actually accomplish some of the same things by increasing the consumption of fresh vegetables, which have few calories, but lots of volume and fiber!.

Finally, protein is a critical macro-nutrient for building and repairing tissue!. So if you are performing resistance training as part of your fat loss regimen, the extra protein can help encourage lean muscle development!.

By the way, you shouldn't focus on WEIGHT loss!. Weight is a poor indicator of body composition!. Focus instead on FAT loss, which is what people are usually looking for when they talk about "toning!."

Realize that protein shakes can be filled with simple sugars, depending on how they are made and what protein powder is used!. Be sure to know what goes into them, otherwise you can find yourself gaining fat, not losing it!.

A good, basic protein shake will contain a scoop or two of whey powder, some skim milk and some ice!. It can be sweetened with a banana or other fresh fruit!.

Finally, protein shakes are NOT magical!. They are just simply a supplement to healthy meals and a way to make it easier to eat 5-6 smaller meals, which can help with fat loss!. You still need to eat well, clean and smart, and you still need to exercise to lose fat and get lean!. Also, if you are eating more calories than you burn, you won't lose fat, regardless of how much protein you eat!.

Well most people that have been in starvation or diet mode do not get enough protein in their diet therefore they cannot build muscle!.

I use ISOPURE in a smoothie rich in iron( black strap molasses) and fiber/omega 3s (chia seeds)

after you work out you have a "window of opportunity" in which your muscles are starving for protein to repair themselves!. instead of eating a steak, those of us who want to loose weight and tone up opt to taking shakes!. whey protein is best as it is digested fastest and feeds the muscles!. when you work out muscles tear and protein isolates fix them and make help them grow!. also, the more muscle you have the more calories you burn when you are just sitting aroung!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
