I want to get my 13 and 10 yr olds in shape?
i have a home gym with lots of gear. i just am not too sure if they can do say 10 - 12 reps so its not strength training. i am aware they wont acheive hypertrophy i just want them to lose a few kgs and put on a bit of muscle as they have started football and are slightly over weight. Exercises i can think of are sit ups, squats, lunges, shuttle runs etc. Could they use resistance bands?> i have been training myself for years but i dont want to stunt their growth.

It won't stunt their growth. Obviously, you don't want to be too hard on them. It's good that you want to get your kids in shape. Start by taking away t.v., video games, computer, etc., until they get off their butts and start exercising!
