For permanent, healthy weight loss it is recommended to only lose 1-2 lbs/week. Slow? No kidding. That's why there is an entire industry based on get skinny quick diets - most of which are complete idiocy.

I suppose you could try to jump start your metabolism. A South Beach Diet-like regime (high protein, no refined carbs, low fat, lots of veggies) might do the trick. I think spicy foods and cabbage - try kimchi - might also raise you metabolism. I've also heard that eating a high protein meal for breakfast, like eggs or tofu works wonders. Make sure to drink A LOT of water, eat low salt, and to exercise. Also, don't expect this weight loss to be permanent.
