Running makes butt smaller?!

Question:

Running makes butt smaller?

I just started using the gym today. yay for me! I would like to lose weight, but my main goal is to get a smaller butt. Should I use the treadmill to burn calories on this location in order to achieve this goal? Can I lose some of the inches by the end of the summer? I don't want to "spot reduce" as some people may say. Remember, I'm using the gym so I'll be doing a lot of cardio to shed a few pounds by August. However, I would really like a smaller butt.

Thank you for the response/advice :)

Hi: Congratulations, you have done something that millions of americans will never do, go to the gym. It shows that are concerned about your fitness and the way you look. Using a treadmill is good but you may want to mix in the use of the stairstepper. The stairstepper will really work out your butt along with your whole lower body.

You may also want to do some weightlifting to tone your upper body. If you have questions just ask somebody in the gym or one of the workers. They will be happy to help. Alot of people think that they can "spot reduce" but that is not the case. You will first lose weight (burn fat) where it is most accumulated on your body. These areas are mostly where people want to "spot reduce". Go to your local bookstore and check out the fitness magizines. You can get some good info in them.

Overall fitness is the goal. As time goes on you will see improvements all over your body, not just your spot areas. If you are consistent you will lose those unwanted inches. Exercise must be a habit, just like brushing your teeth. And about your butt. Do not worry, if you put your time in you will see results. How can you tell? The mirror doesen't lie. You will also notice that more people at the gym are checking you out when you walk by and you catch them staring. Take care.
