Question: Running/Exercise - Is it good to run for 4-5 min straight and take a 3-4 min walk break!?
BEFORE ANYONE COMMENTS, i would like to add - MY GOALS ARE BIG!!.!.!. I have only 40 days to do the best i can!.!.!. i am 18 and I weight in 160 pounds!.!.!. I don't know how to explain my body but I'll try to; I am pretty much round from my stomach and chest, but it's hard to tell when I have a black shirt on!.!. my goal is to reach 150 pounds or BELOW (which I am hoping for)!.!.!. 40 days and 10 pounds or below, you might say it's very unhealthy!.!.!. but honestly all I care about is this weight coming off!.!.!. so please answer my question I have asked above, if it is helpful to my body or should I do more then that!? I SPEND 1/HALF HOUR ON THE TREADMILL EACH DAY!.!.!.I am not much in shape (a video game lover, geek, or a person who participates in no sport as you might say) so my stamina is not so good!.!. I get pain in my body for running over 5 minutes!.!.!. what should i do everyday!? for the nex 40 days!? HELP please!.!.!. THANK YOU!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, first of all mate that sounds like a really good goal, so stick to it, even extend it to 2 or 3 months or longer, and improve each month!.

Right, as to your question, yes it is good!. This type of training is called lampost training, a lot of boxers do it!. But try and cut the walking time down a minute or two (you will be able to do this as you improve) and eventually either cut it out altogether, or increase the speed of your running time!. Either way this is an excellent way of getting your heart rate going!.

So keep it up!

Secondly you might want to start adding other things to your training!. Mix up your cardio with some swimming or a session on the bikes or cross trainer too, just to keep your body guessing!.

Also think about doing some strength training, light to medium weights with lots of reps, to tone up and build your muscles (all over, not just one or two areas) for when the fat comes off!. Your gym instructor should be able to show you some!.

Also eat a healthy diet!. (THIS DOES NOT MEAN STARVE YOURSELF OR GO ON A CRAPPY FAD DIET!!!) It just means that you have to eat 4 or even 5 regular small/medium meals a day, containing (except breakfast) a balanced ammount of carbohydrates (pasta/rice/spuds), protien (chicken/fish/soya) and vitamins and minerals (from fresh fruit and veg)!. You will need the carbs and protien for excercise anyway, and keep snacks and chocs/pizzas/etc as treats only!.

i would say that that is a good goal!. THe pain is good that means you are losing weight!. Also though you gave to eat healthy!. After a while if it gets easier and it doesn't hurt start running faster and longer this way the pain will come back and you will be losing weight again

focus on youre diet,,eat at least 3 to 5 average size meals aday to keep youre metabolism up!.!.rest at least 1 or 2 days a week ,,drinl lots of waterno sodas,energy drinks,cookies,candy,chips,,watch out for foods that have high fructose corn syrup ,,its nothing but liquid sugar,,the first 2 weeks u will lose the most but then youre body will adapt,,change youre workout routine after two weeks,,sprint from light pole to light pole then walk from light pole to plight pole,,if not outside do 30 sec intervals this is a highly recommende way of losing wieght and boosting youre stamina,,good luck man,,when u dont feel like doing anything just start walking and that will usually turn into something more,the hardest part is getting startedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well if you lose 2 pounds per week you can lose 10 pounds in 40 days but!.!.!.


Anything over that is almost impossible and just this is going to be really hard!.

You need to burn more calories than you take in everyday so you'll need to start counting that!.

Also you'll have to work your way up quick so you can run for more than 5 minutes!.

I run 30 minutes straight every day and I don't lose 10 pounds in 40 days!.!.!.

It's gonna be really hard!.

Burn more calories than you eat is the most important thing if you're losing weight that fast!.

do jump ropes every day

I heard somewhere that if you take a 20 minute walk as soon as you wake up at a fast pace it will kick start metabolism which you will need to do!.

You might want to lift some weights and do crunches because I also heard that muscle will burn fat to maintain itself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's fine for a start!. Your stamina will increase, if you keep pushing yourself!. Try going just a little bit longer running and walk minimally!. You'll soon be able to go faster longer!.

Also, you need to take a look at your diet!. It's not enough to do one but not the other!. You should be drinking a lot of water and eating plenty of veggies, fruits and lean meats!.

If you are feeling low on energy, make sure you are getting enough uninterrupted sleep!. Also, trail mixes are a good way to pick yourself up!.

I think your goal is achievable, but don't get too focused on this 40-day goal!. Don't overdo it, but don't just quit after 40 days!. Health is something that you have to keep at all your life!.
